Why shrubs?
Why is a tree campaign talking about native shrubs? The shrub layer is an essential part of the ecosystem, provding food and nesting sites for many animals. For other benefits such as stormwater capture, the only difference between a native tree and a native shrub is one of degree.

McLean Trees Foundation will be planting 5 trees in Olney Park, Falls Church, on Monday October 30 starting at 9 am. Depending on the number of volunteers we get, we should be done in 2-3 hours.

Tree walks in Fairfax parks
Autumn Leaves Hike and Craft
(5-Adult) Hike through the fall foliage, identify trees. Find that perfect autumn leaf and make a craft keepsake. Registration is for a Family of up to four people.
Colors of the Forest
(7-Adult) Fall foliage is a sight to behold, but why do leaves turn colors? Get into the science of it. Hike through the park with a naturalist to find out what else is falling from the trees.
